Trusts in the North West were advised of the availability of training available to them around smoking cessation at this key time prior to going smokefree in July.

Several trusts took up the offer of training and training plans were agreed across the group to ensure consistent delivery of training.

Wherever possible appropriate links were established with the stop smoking services in the local areas where the training was being delivered in order that they could follow up this work and that trained staff would know the best place to refer to. To date training has been delivered to over 200 staff with that number looking set to double.
